I was cleaning up some stuff at the office in preparation for our remodel job when I ran across some Ektachrome (remember Ektachrome and Kodachrome?) slides. On a whim I put one in the xray scanner and this is what I came up with! The scanner scans in black-and-white only, but the result looks kind of like an old time photo.
El Misti is a distinctive dormant volcano just north of Arequipa, Peru. This was the view from our rooftop for the few months I was there in 1973.

Hmm yeah, it is an old time photo. This looks similar to El Popo just outside Mexico City. I took a picture of it from the roof where I was living in Cuautla, Morelos. Googled them both, El Misti is about 1300 ft higher than Popo.
