Sunday morning, May 7th, we had a short LDS service conducted by Barry, one of our translators. Sacrament was followed by a short talk by one of the Haitians (translated by Dan, our trip leader) and then a closing hymn and prayer. My kind of service!
We had the rest of the morning free, so some of us decided to hike to a Baptist church some distance away. When we started out it was overcast, but not raining.

Along the way we stopped at a small field that is the site of a future school planned by the community and Haiti Health Initiative. HHI is the sponsoring organization for our trip. They have been going to Timo for about 8 years and in addition to two dental trips a year, medical and construction teams also go. Like our trip, they work in conjuction with the villagers in a sweat equity type of arrangement so the people have a vested interest in maintaining the infrastructure.
The rain caught up with us and refused to let up, so we hung out for a while under the porch of a house.
We finally made it to the church (which I never did get a picture of) but only could stay for a few minutes as we had to get back for lunch and clinic.
The hike back proved to be every bit as rainy as the hike in,.
One of the days we were there Dr. Kelly and a few others hike to a school to give oral hygiene instructions and pass out toothbrushes and toothpaste.
