This is Laie Point, right next to the Polynesian Cultural Center and the Laie Hawaii Temple.
Samoan fire dancer. The shows at all of the island centers were great, but Samoa was right near the top of our favorites.
During the show a guy sitting off to the side of the stage whipped out a basket made from a coconut leaf and when he asked if anybody wanted it nobody jumped higher or yelled louder than Peggy!

This is Ben, our tour guide. Originally from Sardinia, he lived for a time in Germany, served his mission there, spent some time at BYU, and is now at BYU Hawaii and works at the PCC. Great kid! Oh, and Peg with her basket. She got that at the first exhibit and packed it around the rest of the day and brought it home!

A quick word about our rental car. We got a Prius. You should have seen us figuring out how to drive the thing at 6 o'clock in the morning! Awesome gas mileage.
The speed limit says 45, but that's pretty optimistic. The one big downside to the whole trip was the traffic. Incredible, especially on the Honolulu side of the island.
