Standing in line to enter St. Peter's Basilica, the center of the Roman Catholic world. After the Coliseum, Bill, Don, and I left the ladies at the apartment and took a taxi over to the Vatican. The line to get in stretched almost all the way around the piazza. I think it took just over an hour for us to make it in. The security here was very strict.
We opted to climb the stairs to the top of the dome, The higher we climbed the narrow and steeper the stairs.
Before we entered the dome itself we were treated to this view.
The Eternal City
The large building in the center of the photo is the Vatican Museum. Maybe next time we can plan a longer visit!
Descending.
A parting view.
