First of all, the above two pictures of the steeple coming down were lifted from the Kanab Third Ward blog. Kim W. is our ward historian and was fortunate enough to be in the right place(s) at the right time. It looks like a cohort took the picture from in front of Duke's.
Last week it looked like this. Still some piles of rubble here and there.

Here's a bit of historical trivia: You can see the outline of the original baptismal font located on the lower floor of the original building. This is in the northwest corner in the room that had the outside entrance.
Notice the bricked up windows. The opening is the hall at the top of the foyer stairs leading to the primary room (which previously was the Junior Sunday School room).

Locals are responsible for gutting the interior of the old building.
Can anyone remember the grating on the north side of the old building in the patio area? There's still a little coal left at the bottom after all these years!
The front will be restored with the original type stairs and a front entrance.

I am enjoying the pictures and the commentary. I remember the grate. I remember sitting on the steps to the entrance on the east side and memorizing a scripture before Primary started. It's fun to have this little walk in the past.
