KHS Class of 2012

Four years ago, Matt was the one graduating from Kanab High School, the fourth of our five children to do so.  On Friday, May 31, 2012, Daniel Joseph Schmutz became the fifth and ended a run of 30 years of having children in the Kanab Elementary, the Kanab Middle, or the Kanab High School.  We started with Jared in the fall of '81 and tonight in the spring of '12.
I'm not sure what we supposed to do next!

He looks right smart and and excited as he waits to get that all-important piece of paper certifying him as a high school graduate, more specifically as a Kanab High School graduate.

LoRal Linton (Class of 71) shakes the hand Dan the Man (Class of 2012) as the ceremony continues.

Loaded down with favors, goodies, and money, he cuts a handsome sight in the red of KHS.

Sarah, Scott, and Lawson and Heaton traveled all the way from Brigham to be here.    We (Peg and I) have mixed feelings.  Yes, it's time to move on, but how hard it is to let them be 'the masters of their destiny'.  If it's you, agency is great.  If it's your kid, agency is a word best left unsaid or unextended.  At least until age 30 or 40!  Well, we know that's not the plan (see: Salvation, Plan of) but still....

I absolutely understand the emotion behind your words. It's bittersweet - we want them to grow and become all we have dreamed for them. But when they do we wonder what's next.
