Christmas Day was a fairly quiet affair this year. Our married kids spent it at their own homes so we had now little kids scrambling around Christmas morning opening packages and playing with their presents. We did have the boys and had a good morning with them.
Matt modeling his new boots for us. I think the combination of cowboy boots and basketball shorts is a style that's sure to catch on.
Of course, the day after Christmas is Danny's birthday and we celebrated it with a turkey dinner and birthday cake.
Our real Christmas started the next weekend when Jared and his family came to visit. Part of the time was spent at the rifle range where Grace was in charge of releasing the clay pigeons. It was a cold day, but sunny, and the wind was at a minimum so it was bearable.
Grace is showing good form with the Colt Woodsman.
Adrianne is racking a round into the chamber of Jared's Springfield X-9.

Ruby had a cold while she was here and was kind of miserable, but perked up a little bit by the time they went home.

Peg got a prime rib roast from Corry's for the weekend.
All seasoned with salt and pepper and ready to go into the oven. We had three cooks on this one: myself, Peggy, and Andy. Since we've never cooked a prime rib before we all went to the source of all knowledge, the Internet. Between the conflicting recipes we found online and our own conflicting opinions we managed to turn out a pretty good piece of beef!
We sure enjoyed Jared and Adrianne and the girls. It's really great to have them close enough that we are able to visit more.
