Meridian, Idaho!

About a month after Sarah and her family moved from their apartment into a nearby townhouse and while we were on vacation in Yellowstone, Scott got a call from his company asking if he would like to take a position as the project engineer for the Meridian Idaho temple.  The above is an artist's rendition of the temple that I found on lds.org.  They thought and prayed about it and before we left Yellowstone for home they had decided to accept the opportunity and were already checking out the neighborhood for homes to rent and a school for Lawson.

The week before last, Sarah and the boys came down to spend some quality time with the family (Jared and his family and Matt and Cass were here), then Peg went up with Sarah a week ago Tuesday and helped finish packing for the big move.  I left Thursday after work and we were on our way out of Brigham shortly after 9 am Friday morning.

\Putting things away in the kitchen.  Scott's parents were also there to help.  It was good to see them and visit with them a bit.

Somehow in all the confusion we forgot what box the kitchen carving knives were in, but Scott's machete and Roger showed us how real men cut watermelon!

Here is a panoramic view of the slight rise where the temple will be built.  It will be toward the right this picture while a new stake center will be built to the left.

This empty field will soon be the site of a flurry of activity as a new House of the Lord is built to serve the Saints in the area.  Groundbreaking is scheduled for August 23rd.  I've asked Sarah to keep us up to date and send pictures now and then.

\This was my view for much of the ride home.  We went up via I-15 and I-84 but on the way back I left the freeway at Twin Falls and went south to Jackpot, NV, Well, Ely, Panaca, Cedar City and finally Kanab.  692 miles.  Most of it, in Nevada at least, looking just like this!  Peg is staying for a  little while, helping Sarah get moved in while Scott gets things organized on his end.  We hate to see them move so far away, but are grateful for this opportunity both professionally and spiritually.
