I put a bit of water in and turned in on to get these pics. It needs to be drained a couple of times anyway to clean it out. Now to do a bit of landscaping around it. That might have to wait a bit, tho, with the Fourth, our trip to KY, and Timberline coming up.
On an unrelated note, today marks the 164th anniversary of the martyrdom of the Prophet Joseph Smith and his brother Hyrum at Carthage Jail. Contrary to the expectations of most, the church did not fall apart, but rather flourished and grew to the organization we know today. Although we may not be called to die for the Lord's work as they and others did, we will be called upon to give and sacrifice and we'd do well to heed the example of the early members of the church.
As Peggy and I move into grandparenthood, we are grateful for our grandchildren and more so for their parents that are raising our posterity in the gospel. We are blessed in the lives of all our children and our extended families. I don't think it'll ever be easy or the "in" thing in the eyes of the world, but like all generations in all times, those who follow the gospel as revealed to Joseph Smith and continues to be revealed to his successors, will have set their hearts on the things of most worth in this life and the life to come.
