Pisac

Pisac is at the opposite end of the Urubamba, or Sacred Valley, from Machu Picchu.  Like so many other places, the Spanish built on top of Inca walls and foundations.

I remember not being particularly fond of cui, or guinea pig, when I was a missionary.  I'm still not!  

These terraces, like others in the valley, were engineered with different layers of  rocks and clay and finished with topsoil hauled up from the valley below.

Several times we could catch glimpses of snow-capped peaks high above the valley floor.

On the way from Pisac back to our hotel, we stopped for a short trip through a pottery.

Finished the day with an alpaca steak!
