The Canopy Walkway

Wednesday, Oct 24th, came early for us.  We had a 2 hour boat ride ahead of down the Amazon and up the Rio Napo and finally a small side stream.  There we came to the ExplorNapo Lodge.

Breakfast.

The monkey is having breakfast, too.  There were a bunch of them right outside the dining area feasting on bananas that the staff had placed out there.

After breakfast, it was time for an hour hike through the jungle to the canopy walkway.  Have I ever mentioned it was hot and humid?

The canopy walkway is a suspended walkway with a total length of about 5 football fields. There are about 14 or 15 platforms connected by suspension bridges are rising to over 115 feet above the jungle floor.

The foliage is so dense you cannot see the ground!

Long day!

Finished the day with papa a la huancaina.  This is a dish I remember from my missionary days, and also the first opportunity on this trip to finally get some.
