Eagle Banquet 2011

Last night the Paria River District held its annual Eagle Recognition Banquet at the stake center. Xpress opened the proceedings with a beautiful acapella rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner. Danny is in his second year of Xpress.

Troop 363 was well represented with 5 Eagles in the past year. As recent recipients of the Royce Young Award (see here) they also had the honor of doing the opening flag ceremony.

Of course, if there's food involved, Scouts will be there!

Larry Sorenson, a retired professional scouter was the keynote speaker. He gave a few nice words on the meaning of the rank advancement badges in Scouting, culminating with the Eagle.

Don Taylor presided over the actual recognition of this year's crop of Eagles, which is only fitting because he is the advancement chairman for the district and all Eagle applications go through him and his committee. He has done a great job at this for years.
